This documentation is for anyone and everyone interested in viable, long-term solutions to the socio-economic and socio-environmental concerns facing humanity and further exacerbated by the disparity and distribution of wealth, goods and services. The fact that nearly one-half of the world's population is living in abject poverty should be ample evidence that the current models and systems have failed not only the individual, but humanity as a whole. How many great minds have been silenced due to an inability to afford even the most basic, formal education? How many ideas and innovations have failed to come to fruition due to a lack of funding or facilities?

Private Island Development Introduction

The Verde Island Passage is the center of the most biologically diverse marine ecosystem in the worldi, and the Northernmost expanse of what is commonly referred to as “The Coral Triangle”. As such, it is both relevant and necessary that it receive special status as a “Special Environmental Zone” in addition to that of a Special Economic Zone. A host of Universities, International Organizations and other specialized bodies continue to monitor the area but research is minimal at best and there have been, to date, no concerted, adequately funded efforts to maintain, preserve and in some cases, restore the environment to a more pristine, natural ecosystem. Furthermore, any and all development must take place with a concerted intent and purpose to create a systemically sustainable land development that benefits not only the vast numbers of indigenous persons currently inhabiting the islands, but the Philippine people as a whole and the fragile, local environmental systems.

Wastewater Effluent, Municipal Solid Waste and other garbage and solid waste materials in the Philippines are building up at an alarming rate. Currently, most of the garbage will be dropped into what are effectively dumps, rarely even landfills11. Those “landfills” that are covered, are often covered incorrectly and there is no managed effort to reforest or reclaim these lands. The end results are often mudslides or even flooding that wash the garbage back into populated areas, often resulting in unnecessary disease and even death to the surrounding populations. While these issues are certainly more pronounced around larger, urban population centers and the big cities, this problem is a common theme throughout the Philippines. Many different current technologies turn this waste into viable, marketable products with a return that generally pays back the entire investment within a three year period.
